If we asked you about two quintessentially Spanish dishes that tend to be enjoyed especially in the hottest months (mainly in summer) due to their great cooling power, it is quite likely that two will come to mind: gazpacho and salmorejo. They consist of two delicious cold soups that, in addition to being extremely refreshing and internally hydrating, contain a huge amount of vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients.

Both are mainly characterized by being two delicious and very nutritious dishes made with olive oil, bread and raw vegetables . The preparation of these two wonderful soups is actually very simple and easy, but when preparing them it is true that some doubts may be raised directly related to their differences, since both in appearance and color they tend to be very similar.

The reason why the tonality of these two traditional dishes is quite similar (which can lead to confusion on many occasions), is because in both recipes tomato is used as the main ingredient, in addition to other vegetables that will depend on whether we are going. to prepare one or the other. That is, both gazpacho and salmorejo have tomato as the main protagonist.

  • As we can see, while in gazpacho tomato and other fresh vegetables such as cucumber or pepper are used as main ingredients , in the case of salmorejo only tomato and garlic are used, as well as olive oil and bread. Lasted.
