Every year, when autumn approaches, the season of figs also begins, a delicious fruit precisely highly characteristic of this time of year, in the same way that it also happens with other foods of natural origin, such as persimmons, chestnuts or mushrooms.
They are natural foods full of benefits and extremely interesting properties for this beautiful time of year, in which with the change of season and the arrival of cold and bad weather (also including the decrease in sunlight so typical of it) our health suffers, we tend to feel more tired and exhausted, with greater melancholy and sadness.
Luckily, these foods provide us with the nutrients that our body needs to provide us with the necessary energy and nutrients. This is the case of figs, an energetic food with a high content of carbohydrates, sugars and vitamins, mainly from the B complex.
Best of all, in addition to being eaten fresh, figs can also be used to make a wide variety of delicious typical recipes. This is the case of pan de higos, a typical dessert from Malaga and the Canary Islands, which consists of a wonderful base of dried figs with which a dense and compact dough is made. The most traditional recipe is made precisely with figs (both fresh and dried figs can be used), which are accompanied by a delicious hot chocolate sauce on top, which tends to harden a bit when it comes into contact with the cold of the dessert. How to Make a Parfait of Figs and Hot Fudge Sauce:
Ingredients for the fig parfait:
- 150 grams of fresh figs
- 500 ml. whipped cream
- 4 eggs
- 100 grams of sugar
Ingredients for the chocolate sauce:
- 250 grams chocolate fondant
- 200 ml. heavy cream (minimum 18% MG)
- 20 grams of sugar
- 125 grams of water
Preparation of the fig parfait:
First, wash the figs well. Now put them in the glass of a blender and grind them well until a paste forms (without adding water).
Now, in a large bowl, put the eggs together with the sugar and whip them until you see that they have doubled in volume.
Carefully, so that the cream does not go down, mix the mounted eggs with the fig paste. Now add the whipped cream little by little.
Put it in individual molds or in a single large one, and take it to the freezer so that it can take shape. After an hour has passed remove from the freezer and stir to break up the crystals. Then freeze again.
Preparation of the chocolate sauce and serving:
When serving the parfait is an excellent opportunity to prepare the hot chocolate sauce. It is extremely simple.

In a saucepan, heat the cream together with the sugar and water. Mix well and continuously with the help of a few rods, so that the sugar dissolves well. Just when it starts to boil, remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chopped chocolate, little by little and carefully.
