To get a nutritious breakfast that, in addition to being healthy, is easy and quick to prepare, there is no doubt that there are really appetizing options that are simple and very rich not only in terms of flavors, but also in nutrients. What’s more, and if they give us energy and satisfy us, the truth is that they become ideal dishes to start the day with energy.

An excellent opportunity is always offered by foods such as oatmeal (which allows us to make a wonderful and exquisite porridge) or even any other cereal, since it provides us with complex carbohydrates, B vitamins and essential minerals for the proper functioning of our body. And, for this, a wonderful way is to opt for the exquisite oat flakes.

Apples are also a great breakfast option, and actually pair almost perfectly with oatmeal.  In fact, on a previous occasion we talked about a nutritious breakfast full of energy: a delicious dish based on oatmeal with apple and honey, very easy to prepare.

But what to do with the snack? The truth is that it becomes a kind of intermediate meal, which many people actually despise, but which becomes in a certain sense an equally important meal because it is the step towards dinner.

In other words, if we have a good snack we will have dinner as it should be (lightly and without overdoing it), and if we do not have a snack we will end up stuffing ourselves with the last meal of the day with the problems that this entails: slow and heavy digestion, acidity, discomfort when sleeping…

This time we propose a different and really balanced snack: some baked apples with oatmeal, ideal to help us eliminate the hunger that we may feel in the afternoon, but which becomes a light and equally nutritious option.

The benefits of apples with baked oatmeal

As with breakfast, the reality is that oatmeal combined with apple is a nutritious and healthy dish. For example, oatmeal stands out for its richness in B vitamins (especially B1 and B2), as well as minerals (such as phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, zinc, calcium and iron), as well as amino acids and complex carbohydrates.

On the other hand, it has a quality in common with apples, and that is that it is very rich in fiber, being especially useful when it comes to improving our intestinal transit and helping us prevent constipation.

How to make a snack of apples with baked oatmeal?

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fine oatmeal
  • 4 apples
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar (or 4 tablespoons of panela)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Cinnamon powder

Preparation of apples with baked oatmeal:

  1. First, mix the oat flakes, whole meal flour and olive oil in a large bowl or bowl. To do this, try to knead it well with your hands.
  2. Now wash the apples well, peel them and remove their core. Cut them into slices or squares (as you prefer) and place them in a baking dish.
  3. Cover with the oat paste, flour and oil and sprinkle a little sugar or panela and cinnamon on top.
  4. To finish, heat a little in the oven for a few minutes (5 minutes will be enough) at a temperature of 170ºC.
