Ingredients to make the roscón de reyes

  • 500g Of flour
  • 25g baker ‘s yeast
  • 100g of sugar
  • 100ml milk
  • 100g of butter
  • 2 eggs

Steps to make the roscón de reyes

  1. Heat three to four tablespoons of milk. Dissolve the yeast in it.
  2. Now add 100 g. of flour and knead well until it forms a small ball (the size of a tennis ball). Let stand for two hours (the ball should double in size).
  3. Now, in a large bowl, add the rest of the flour, making a little hole in the center, to put the eggs, sugar and lemon zest. Beat it all very well.
  4. Add the butter so that it integrates well into the dough. Keep kneading well.
  5. Now you must join the two masses, leaving it to rest for another two hours.
  6. During the time that we have let the dough rest, it must have remained spongy.
  7. Turn on the oven to a temperature of 160º and take the oven source where you are going to make the roscón.
  8. Lay out baking paper and spread a little butter on it to prevent the dough from sticking.
  9. Pour the dough and shape it into a thread. In case you are going to put a small gift inside the roscón, now is the time to insert it well into it.
  10. Now add the candied fruit to taste, paint it with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
  11. Let it cook in the oven for half an hour.
