Discover which are the acidic foods with our list or table of acidifying foods, which lower or lower the pH of our body.
As we already saw in the article dedicated to acidic foods (within our special on the pH of foods), we speak of acidic or acidifying foods when their content in certain minerals tend to reduce the average pH of our body, which is characterized for being a slightly alkaline neutral pH and oscillates between 7.35 and 7.45.
That is, in food we refer directly to pH as an indicator of the acid content that exists in a certain food or drink, varying between 0 and 14, so that if a food or drink has or has a pH value lower than 7, it is consider acid.
As we have commented on other occasions, the condition that a food is alkaline, neutral or acid is mainly due to its mineral content, and how these micronutrients tend to alter the pH of our body. As we indicated above, in the case of acidifying foods, what they do is reduce the pH of our body.
On the other hand, it is possible to distinguish whether a food is acidic or alkaline based on its composition or mineral richness. Therefore, while minerals such as phosphorus, iron, sulfur, iodine, and chlorine are acidifying minerals, minerals such as magnesium, zinc, calcium, potassium, sodium, and manganese are alkaline.
