Slightly sweet and very mild in flavor, zucchini puree is an excellent children’s recipe for babies 6 months and older (and toddlers too).
The zucchini becomes a wonderful and excellent choice as food for introducing feed the baby from 6 months of life, mainly due to not cause many allergies, as also happens with other vegetables like carrots, squash and Leek (which also stands out for having a milder flavor than onion).
In the particular case of zucchini, it is a food that is very well tolerated by the child’s digestive system. In this sense, the best way to start giving this vegetable to a 6-month-old baby is in the form of a puree, making a simple and nutritious zucchini puree, which stands out for its richness in water (it has more than 90% water), interesting contribution in vitamin A (beta carotenes), B and C as well as minerals such as calcium, potassium, phosphorus and iron.
At the time of making it, you will obtain a wonderful cream, with a fine and light texture, and a sweet taste that will delight the little ones in the house.
Ingredients:
- 1 large zucchini
- 2 medium potatoes
- 2 cups of water
- 1/2 leek
Note:
As you will see, in this recipe we are going to make the zucchini puree with leek, instead of with onion, because it has a milder flavor. However, if your baby or toddler has already eaten onion and is tolerating it well, you can substitute the leek for half an onion.
Preparation:
First put the water in a saucepan on the fire and bring it to a boil. While the water is boiling, wash the zucchini well and peel it (or not, if you don’t want it), and cut it into small pieces. Peel the potatoes and dice them. Wash the leek and cut it equally into small pieces.
Just when the water starts to boil add the zucchini, leek and potatoes. Let it cook on the fire for 10-15 minutes, or until all the food is cooked and tender.
Then add everything to the blender glass, beat well until you get a thick but light puree.
To finish, when serving, put the zucchini puree in the baby’s plate and wait for it to cool down a bit.
