Enjoying a healthy dinner is simple with the consumption of light foods, and always at a certain time. Learn some easy tips and tricks.
Many nutritionists agree that distributing meals 5 times throughout the day is essential not only to maintain a balanced diet, but also to enjoy an ideal weight (as long as you do not eat excessively, only small amounts, and always healthy food).
In this way, the meals should be 5: breakfast, lunch at mid-morning, lunch, snack and dinner.
And, in this sense, there is no doubt that breakfasts become one of the most important meals of the day. We already talked to you about how to prepare healthy breakfasts earlier, as well as what are the ideal foods for a good breakfast.
But dinners are also characterized by being just as important, being one of the 3 main meals of the day, becoming the last meal of the day before going to bed. Hence, it is better to consume light, low-calorie foods, which helps us keep our metabolism active but without risking weight gain.
How should a healthy dinner be?
Many people believe that little or no dinner is better when it comes to losing weight, for example. Or they tend not to dine directly at all.
However, it is more harmful than beneficial for our body, since we must not forget that dinner is the last meal we eat of the day, and although it is best to eat light, it is not at all advisable not to eat (especially if we do not want to wake up at night hungry).
For a dinner to be healthy, it is best to forget about sweets and foods rich in refined flours, since they cause changes in sugar levels, which negatively influences when it comes to falling asleep. In addition, we are more likely to want to continue eating.
It is advisable to eat satisfying but low calorie foods. Fruits are ideal, being rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. But be careful, because being rich in simple sugars, they are not very satisfying, and it is likely that if we only eat fruit within a few hours we will feel hungry again.
The vegetables and white meats such as chicken breast itself are even more recommendable, especially because they contain very few calories and are more satiating.
Foods that cannot be missing in a healthy dinner
- Protein-rich foods: These are generally foods low in fat and calories, as well as being very filling. They are ideal at dinners, because they help us keep our sugar levels stable throughout the night.
- Dairy: Dairy products such as milk contain tryptophan, an amino acid that produces serotonin, which in turn provides a feeling of well-being and relaxation. It is best to opt for skimmed dairy.
- Vegetables and fruits: They provide few calories and fat, and are extremely light foods but very rich in essential nutrients for our body.
- Infusions, herbal teas or rooibos: Taking an infusion, herbal tea or rooibos can become a healthy option for after dinner, especially if it is a digestive or purifying infusion.
When is it better to have dinner?
It is advisable to always set a schedule, and always try to have dinner at the same time. In this way you will accustom your body to having dinner at the same time.
Regarding the schedule, it is best to have dinner at least two hours before going to bed. This way you will not interrupt digestion.
