The month of September is coming to an end. And that means that in just one hundred days we will already have our streets flooded with colored lights, decorated trees and that unmistakable smell of burnt chestnuts that begins to flood every corner of our city.
We are talking about Christmas. A time that should always be spent in the company of our loved ones where, gathered at a round table, we will have to show them the love and affection that we process for them. And to make all these meetings much more enjoyable, there is nothing better than enjoying some delicious nougat made from apples.
Is your mouth starting to water? The truth is that we understand you perfectly. Absolutely all of them represent an explosion of flavors on our palate that is very difficult to resist. For this reason, below we are going to propose three nougat recipes that have apples as a base ingredient, a fruit that can provide all kinds of benefits for our health.
Traditional apple nougat recipe
It would not make sense to start this list of recipes without the typical apple nougat that has flooded our Christmas tables so much for as long as we can remember. So go take your list and write down the following ingredients: a couple of apples, an egg white and 300 grams of icing sugar that we prepare everything in the following way:
- In a bowl, beat an egg white together with the icing sugar. Once it has a certain consistency, you can add the apples that we will have to have grated previously.
- We will spread everything in a rectangular mold. We will put it in the refrigerator for at least a day until the nougat is hard enough.
Apple and coffee nougat recipe
Do you consider yourselves inveterate coffee lovers? Well, then we can only tell you that you are in luck. For this very special recipe you go for a couple of apples, 200 grams of soft nougat, a couple of tablespoons of instant coffee, 100 ml of milk and sugar. The production process will be as follows:
- Cook the diced apples in a saucepan. Then we will add the soft nougat that we will melt for three or four minutes. We can also add a little water if we deem it necessary.
- In a separate bowl, pour the soluble coffee together with a little milk. We mix everything well using the typical egg beater.
- We mix the apples, the nougat and the coffee mixture in a large mold. We can also add a little sugar to our liking to finally let it solidify by itself for a couple of hours.
Apple and marzipan nougat recipe
What do you think of the idea of uniting two Christmas sweets like marzipan and nougat in one? Well, although it seems utopian, it is what the following recipe offers us, for which you will need a couple of ripe apples, a handful of walnuts, ground almonds, an egg, a little cinnamon and lemon zest. The elaboration will be like this:
- We first prepare an apple cream. To do this, we will use this chopped fruit that we will grind with the lemon zest and cinnamon until we get a kind of compote. After this, we will heat this mixture over low heat in a pan to which we will add a beaten egg white.
- Add the ground almonds after removing the pan from the heat. Mix everything well using a spatula. We will spread all this mixture on parchment paper on a large mold.
- We can add a couple of nuts on the surface. And with the rest of the applesauce we can “paint” all the nougat. We put everything in the oven at a temperature not exceeding 200 degrees. After twenty minutes we remove it and let it rest for 45 minutes until it hardens. Completely delicious!
