Benefits of apricot seeds, and information on the different nutritional properties that you will find in the seeds of this delicious fruit.

The apricot (also known by the name of apricot, and usually confused with the peach), is a fruit that at least in Spain we can begin to enjoy from the middle of April to the end of August approximately.

They are really characteristic fruits and a truly wonderful aroma. They are somewhat smaller in size than peaches, with an orange, white, yellow or reddish skin and a soft and velvety touch.

Although we already talked about its properties in the article dedicated to the benefits of apricot, today we want to look at its interior; more specifically, in its seeds, which also provide interesting qualities.

What are apricot seeds?

As you can imagine, apricot seeds are small pipes that we can find inside this fruit. They have a shape that is often reminiscent of an almond.

Nutritional properties of apricot seeds

Apricot seeds are especially rich in vitamins, especially their very high content of B group vitamins.

Especially surprising is the presence of vitamin B17, also known as para-amino benzoic acid or Laetrile, and which provides antioxidant virtues.

Apricot kernel benefits

Helps raise defenses

Apricot seeds are especially useful when it comes to increasing defenses, thanks to the fact that they have the ability to stimulate the immune system, which means that they improve our body’s natural defenses to fight infections and diseases.

Antioxidant and analgesic properties

Due to their vitamin B17 content, these seeds provide analgesic properties, and according to different studies (although at the moment more would be needed to confirm this without leaving room for doubt), it could prevent the appearance of cancer cells, or destroy existing ones thanks to its antioxidant qualities.

Helps to take care of the skin

Vitamin B17 is also an interesting nutrient for skin health. In fact, it helps to treat different related problems, such as seborrhea and eczema.

Lowers blood pressure

In case of high blood pressure levels, apricot seeds are useful to lower these values. We owe this benefit again to the presence of vitamin B17.

Relief from constipation

A regular dose of both apricot and peach seeds helps fight constipation, improving good intestinal transit and regular bowel movement.
