Who can resist some delicious chocolate chip cookies? We propose a wonderful homemade recipe to make oatmeal cookies with chocolate.

We are almost into Christmas and we have got down working to make different Christmas recipes. This time we wanted to start with the sweet, because perhaps it is what causes the most demand among diners and is the perfect symbol of this Christmas season, either with nougats, pantones, polvorones among other typical desserts and sweets.

These cookies can be made with different ingredients, you simply have to keep the basic ingredients and then season it and add whatever you want or like the most.

In our case we wanted to try oatmeal and to make it have a sweeter point we have added chocolate at the end of the preparation. We explain how to make them and what options you have if there is an ingredient in the recipe that you do not like or to which you are allergic or intolerant.

How to Make Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies:

Ingredients:

  • 240 grams of soft rolled oats
  • 75 grams of white flour (oats, wheat, spelled) or even whole meal
  • 120 grams of unsalted butter
  • 100 grams of white or brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • Half a teaspoon of yeast
  • A pinch of fine salt
  • Cinnamon to taste
  • Chocolate chips

Ingredients that you can vary:

  • Ginger (very typical Christmas spice)
  • Nutmeg
  • Raisins
  • Dates
  • Dried peaches
  • Pistachios

How do we prepare them?

In the first place, it is essential that you have all the heavy ingredients at hand, so that you only have to add them in the order in which we propose them. Of course, it goes without saying that the oven must be preheated so that when you finish preparing the cookies you can insert them without having to wait, we will set a temperature between 150º and 180º degrees depending on the type of oven with heat up and down.

To start using the butter, it must be about to ointment so that it is easier to mix it with the sugar, in this case (we have put it in the microwave for a few seconds in defrosting mode to soften it).

After having mixed the butter and sugar, it is time to introduce the egg and observe that the three ingredients are fully integrated.

Next we will include the other ingredients, starting with the oats, flour, yeast, cinnamon and salt.

After all the ingredients are completely mixed, we will use baking paper to line our tray and place small balls in rows and we will crush them to give them the shape of cookies, we will sprinkle with more cinnamon on top if we want and we will add the chocolate chips on the surface of the cookie.

When introducing them in the oven, we will check that the cookies are browning and in no case will we let them harden, the appropriate time is between 15 and 20 minutes but as we have mentioned, each oven is different and it is a matter of monitoring them. We like to take them out when they are still a little tender and that the same heat finishes hardening them and thus they get the perfect crunchy.

I hope you like cookies as much as we do, and make and enjoy them not only at Christmas but throughout the year. Anyone with children at home will know that cookies are the best resource for a snack or a snack, but as long as they are homemade (and healthier).

Shortly we will be publishing more cookie recipes, with different ingredients, since there are many people who prefer them with oil instead of butter, or for other reasons, such as allergies or food intolerances that require stricter care to the time to prepare food at home.
