The fatty acids from a nutritional standpoint, are the most important components of fats, especially highlighting the unsaturated fatty acids for their heart – healthy benefits and their different properties in control of both cholesterol and triglycerides. Among these unsaturated fatty acids we find omega 3 and omega 6.

Regarding omega 6 fatty acids, it is also known by the name of linoleic acid, arachidonic acid or Gama linolenic acid (GLA).

They are characterized by being a type of essential polyunsaturated fat, and they are precisely unsaturated fatty acids because they have double bonds between their carbon atoms in their molecule.

  • Ideal for women: It is highly recommended for women, as it helps reduce premenstrual symptoms, and is commonly used in capsules or tablets with evening primrose oil.
  • Suitable for diabetes: Helps keep insulin levels balanced, while preventing the effects of the disease.
  • Useful for men: Recommended for male impotence problems, thanks to the fact that it helps improve circulation.

When it comes to enjoying the different properties of omega 6, it is essential and useful to know what foods contain omega 6. In this sense, the following foods stand out:

  • Vegetable oils: sunflower, soy, corn, sesame and peanut oil.
  • Meats and eggs.
  • Fruits: gooseberries.
  • Breastmilk.
