Why is it good to practice relaxation?

Do you know why practicing relaxation on a regular basis is so good for your health? Find out what its most important medicinal and healing benefits and properties are.

Cases of both anxiety and stress are the order of the day. In fact, there is a rare day that we do not feel nervous, anxious or stressed, and that we do not go about our daily tasks running from one place to another. And it is that we could say that what once became an excellent defense mechanism, which alerted us and started us in the presence of some predator or danger, today has become a real problem for our health, especially when there is no real cause of danger and especially when it becomes chronic.

The increase in cases of stress and anxiety is coupled with the current rhythm of life that we have so hectic, where we must do everything quickly and quickly, and in which any break we take simply becomes a true utopia. The truth is that our competitive society greatly influences this, so that it is very common for many of the diseases and health disorders that are so related to them to appear. The most common? Undoubtedly emotional gastritis, in addition to other digestive and stomach problems, such as stomach pain, diarrhea or constipation, ulcers, irritable bowel and Cohn’s disease.

For all these reasons, practicing relaxation every day is essential when it comes to gaining both physical and mental health. To achieve this, it is only necessary to practice it for at least 30 minutes each day.

1. Helps reduce stress and anxiety

Giving ourselves at least 30 minutes a day to relax and be more calm helps us to get away from stress and anxiety, as well as helping us to think more clearly and be more creative. It is an ideal option when we tend to feel very nervous, since it is useful to calm down when our nerves tense us.

2. Eliminate muscle tension

Stress, anxiety and nerves attack the muscles by causing certain muscle tension. In fact, when you feel stressed or anxious, do you tend to have more muscle contractures? For example, my trapezius usually hurts a lot. Moreover, every time I feel very nervous, within a few minutes part of my back, neck hurts and I also suffer from a headache.

The solution? Very simple: calm my nerves by relaxing a little for a few minutes, trying to “turn off” my thoughts and my mind, leaving it blank.

3. Increases the level of consciousness

When we maintain a daily relaxation practice, and we practice relaxation regularly, it is common for us to have an easier time going blank and staying much more focused.  Therefore, when we do it regularly, we in turn manage to increase our level of consciousness.

4. It helps us to have more positive thoughts

When we feel stressed, very nervous or anxious, negative and/or obsessive thoughts tend to flood us, so that they become a vicious circle that does not benefit us at all.

However, when we relax and practice relaxation techniques on a daily basis, we can enjoy a greater number of positive thoughts.

5. Increases our resistance to diseases

Practicing relaxation regularly helps us increase our defenses, which in turn translates into strengthening our health in general and our immune system in particular, so that it increases our resistance to the most common diseases, such as colds and the flu.
