Tips to take care of your hair in summer and how to protect it

Summer can be an enemy to the health of your hair or fur. That is why you know some useful tips not only for your protection, but also for your care.

Throughout the year many women tend to take care of their hair using natural protective products and following, in turn, some advice and habits that positively help in this regard.

But if there are two seasons that most often negatively affect hair health, they are mainly autumn and summer. In the case of summer, there are several of its most prominent “enemies”: the sun, high temperatures, chlorine (if you swim in a pool) or salty sea water, and sand.

For all these reasons, a recommended option is to always keep in mind some tips on how to protect your hair in summer, but not only your own protection, but also take into account tips for hair care in summer. Take good note.

Summer hair care tips

Be careful are the sun

It is not advisable to expose yourself to the sun during the hours considered to be the most dangerous of the day, that is, between 12 and 4 p.m. And it is always advisable to use a hat or cap to help us cover our hair, and ultimately protect it from ultraviolet rays, so that they do not directly affect the hair.

Use a sunscreen for your hair

Did you know that, in addition to the skin, there are also sunscreens to protect your hair?  In the market you can find shampoos, conditioners and masks with sunscreen that will be very useful.

Also, you should keep in mind that it is important that you try to avoid shampoos that are aggressive with your hair.

If you swim in a pool or on the beach…

As we indicated in the previous lines, both the chlorine in the pool and the salt water in the sea tend to damage our hair. In fact, they cause hair to become dry and discolored.

The solution? Rinse it with fresh water after each bath, if possible. Otherwise, do it later when you get home.

How to protect hair in summer?

During the summer, the truth is that there are even more elements that can harm your health even more: the sun, chlorine in swimming pools, saltpeter on the beach, air conditioning and high temperatures, among others.

For this reason, protecting hair in summer is a recommended option not only to be able to take care of it easily and thus maintain its health, but also because we will be able to protect it in a very positive way and thus prevent the most typical symptoms of poor hair health from appearing, such as they can be less softness, greater weakness and less brightness.

Discover below some quick but very useful tips, which will be of great help to you:

  • When you go out, or sunbathe, use hats, caps or scarves.
  • To remove traces of salt or chlorine, rinse your hair with fresh water.
  • Use shampoos that are not aggressive with your hair.
  • If you spend a lot of time in a room where there is air conditioning, use a spray to moisten your hair.
  • During the summer forget about the iron, it can damage it much more.
  • Masks with softening and/or moisturizing ingredients will be of great help.
  • When you go to sunbathe, use a protective spray or product. You can find oils or hair protection products against the effects of UVA and UVB rays.
