Natural tips to treat sunburn

Do you need to relieve sunburn? It is true that sunburns can be easily prevented, but if after a day of sunbathing your skin has finally burned, we will discover some useful natural tips to treat and relieve them.

Although more and more people are becoming aware of the importance of using sunscreens or protective creams when it comes to protecting their skin from the sun, there are still many who use them incorrectly or who actually apply them only once. Time in the day. There are even those who continue without wearing them, with the obvious risks that this entails: our skin burns more easily, which in turn increases the risk of suffering from some type of skin cancer in the near future.

Did you know that preventing sunburn is actually very simple? It is only enough to use a suitable sunscreen according to our photo type and characteristics of our skin, and apply it properly as many times as necessary each time we sunbathe. But despite this, the problem every year is evident: many people continue to burn by the action of the sun’s rays.

When our skin has been burned, the symptoms are as clear as they are obvious: red and sensitive skin that feels hot to the touch and that can hurt when rubbed against clothing or hands. Blisters can also appear hours or days after we have been burned, and what is known as “sun allergy” appears, which causes skin rash, fever, nausea and chills. Then our skin tends to “peel”.

Although the most important thing is prevention, and precisely preventing our skin from burning, if in the end you have lowered your guard or have not properly protected yourself, there are some useful natural tips to treat and relieve sunburn.

Some useful tips if your skin has been sunburned

1. Hydrate properly both inside and out

Hydration is important for our body, even more so during the days when we sunbathe because it is the only way to replenish the liquids lost through sweat. It is essential not only for the proper functioning of our body, but also for the health of our skin.

Furthermore, if you use cold water and soak your skin with it, you will be able to soothe and refresh the sunburn, which will calm the annoying burning sensation.

2. Use after-sun lotions

Popularly known as after sun, it is advisable to opt for lotions after sunbathing, even if you have not burned yourself, as they will provide hydration and moisture, acting as a wonderful soothing agent for burning and pain.

3. Apply natural aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is one of the most recommended natural options to soothe the pain and burning caused by sunburn, as well as being very useful because it acts as a refresher and improves and speeds up the healing process.

To obtain natural aloe Vera juice you only need to have an aloe Vera plant at home and cut a little of its leaves, letting it rest in one step to get all its juice. Then apply it on the area of the skin where you have burned.

4. Refreshing yogurt

Yogurt can positively help refresh and cool sunburned skin, especially when used straight from the fridge. Of course, it is necessary that the yogurt is natural, does not contain additives or sugars.

To apply it to your skin, just put the natural yogurt in a bowl, stir it a little with a wooden spoon and put a little of it on your fingers, to apply it later on the areas where you have burned. Let it act for 15 minutes, and then remove with cold water.

5. Milk compresses

Like yoghurt, soaking a compress in cold milk is a very interesting refreshing traditional remedy. You just have to put a little cold milk in a glass and soak a compress, until it is well moistened. Then place it on the areas of the skin where you have burned, and leave it on for 14 minutes.

If you wish, you can substitute animal milk for a vegetable drink, such as rice milk or oat milk.

6. Vinegar: soothing and antiseptic

Did you know that apple cider vinegar acts as a soothing and antiseptic? For this reason, it is also interesting to apply it on sunburned skin, because practically at the moment it will help you feel how the burning and pain decrease.
