The pediluvium defines itself as the foot bath that is carried out for a certain amount of time on natural water or loaded with some medicines . Another property of these is that they act as a revulsive and that they are also beneficial to combat cerebral congestion, laryngitis, bronchitis…

They should be used with water at a temperature not higher than 35º nor lower than 30º, gradually increasing the heat and adding additives such as: ash, vinegar, mustard, etc.

The immersion has a maximum time of between 8 and 10 minutes and the feet must be kept very warm to avoid a possible adverse reaction.

Next, we will tell you how calluses and their derivatives originate on the hands and feet.

But in principle we will start by telling you that corns and/or calluses are a thickening that the skin produces as a protection or wall to limit the action of external agents. Almost always these hardnesses tend to disappear at the moment the friction that caused them ends. But in the “meanwhile” you can use creams and perform care such as paraffin baths, abrasion with brushes

Other suggested items are pumice stone and the use of gloves or patches to protect the area.

Traditional treatments

After this procedure, a specific tool is used to remove the hardness or the area is rubbed with a pumice or abrasive stone.

Other suggested procedures:

  • Exfoliate with a homemade preparation made from two tablespoons of cream and two teaspoons of sugar, and apply on the calluses with an energetic massage to loosen dead cells.
  • Use a manual lathe with a small disc of fine sandpaper that removes dead cells with rapid circular movements.
