How to make a dandelion tea

The dandelion infusion is a natural drink with interesting benefits and medicinal properties, ideal for the liver and kidneys, being an excellent cleanser and a good diuretic.

You have probably already seen it in gardens or while taking a walk on the bank. In fact, it becomes one of the plants of choice for the little ones, precisely because its stems when blown release some species of fluffy white strands that they feel to fly away with the wind.  We are talking, indeed, about the dandelion. It is a scientifically known plant by the name of Taraxacum officinal, and popularly with the names of bitter chicory or mea camas. It belongs to the Asteraceae family, and is traditionally considered a “weed”.

Regarding its different and distinct physical characteristics, it is a perennial plant with a long root that usually reaches 35 centimeters in height. Its leaves are alternate, lance late, with easily recognizable golden yellow flowers and stems that, as we indicated above, tend to fly when blown or blown by the wind.

We could say that dandelion is one of the best known and most popular medicinal plants, mainly for its purifying and diuretic qualities, being ideal when it comes to eliminating toxins accumulated in our body. It is interesting to purify the liver, helping in certain liver disorders such as lazy liver and fatty liver. It is also beneficial when purifying the kidneys, as it improves kidney function and helps to eliminate fluids and prevent retention.

Ingredients, what do you need to make the dandelion infusion?

  • 1 tablespoon dandelion (fresh or dried)
  • 1 cup of water

Steps to prepare the dandelion infusion

  1. Boil the equivalent of a cup of water in a saucepan.
  2. When the water reaches the boiling point add the dandelion.
  3. Leave on the fire for 3 minutes.
  4. After this time, turn off the heat, cover and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Finally strain, sweeten to taste if you wish, and drink.

You can take this infusion 3 times a day; preferably before meals (it is best to take it half an hour before meals).
