Benefits of hazelnut milk, and information on the different nutritional properties of an ideal plant milk as an alternative to cow’s milk with lactose.

Plant milks are healthy and natural drinks that are especially useful in a varied and balanced diet, and they can become an excellent option when suffering from lactose intolerance (very common today and that prevents the habitual consumption of cow’s milk that has not been treated to remove lactose, the milk sugar which is broken down into glucose and galactose thanks to the action of the enzyme lactase).

In relation to the aforementioned vegetable milks, one of its main advantages is that by following the basic preparation advice and having the necessary ingredients, we can easily prepare them at home and enjoy them at the moment. Not counting –of course- its different nutritional qualities.

In the case of hazelnut milk, it is a vegetable drink that provides practically the same benefits as almond milk.

Hazelnut milk benefits

The hazelnut milk is a vegetable drink obtained from hazelnuts raw or roasted. Precisely when making it, avoid using hazelnuts that have been fried or prepared with salt.

It is a drink that is especially rich in vitamin E, an essential vitamin that stands out for its antioxidant qualities, helping to reduce the most negative effects of free radicals.

Regarding its vitamin content, we must also highlight the presence of folic acid, essential not only for pregnant women but also for those who wish to remain in condition, since it prevents defects in both the placenta and the fetus itself (it is in fact recommended that 3 months before pregnancy, both women and men start taking folic acid every day).

It is useful in case of high cholesterol, mainly due to its richness in saturated fatty acids, so that taking a glass of hazelnut milk every day together with following a balanced and low-fat diet will positively help reduce high levels. Of fats in the blood.

Regarding its mineral content, we can name such important nutrients as calcium (hence this drink is a good substitute for cow’s milk) and magnesium.

How to make hazelnut milk?

Ingredients

  • 200 grams of raw or roasted hazelnuts.
  • 1 and a half liters of mineral water.
  • 1 pinch of vanilla.

Preparation

If you use raw hazelnuts, it is convenient that you soak them in water overnight (which will help make them more digestive). The next day remove the water and reserve the hazelnuts. Rinse the hazelnuts well in water.

For 5 minutes, blend the hazelnuts until it forms a creamy liquid with a white appearance or color. Strain the drink with the help of a strainer or cotton gauze. If you want, you can add a pinch of vanilla and sugar to add flavor.
