Frizzy hair: Why hair gets frizzy and what are its causes

Frizzy hair or hair can become a very uncomfortable beauty problem for women.  What are your causes? Knowing them will help you prevent it more easily.

Having frizzy hair is quite common, as more than 25% of Spanish women say that their hair gets wavy and frizzy very easily. The reasons why it happens can be several, from temperature changes, to hormonal processes, through genetics.

Frizzy hair often has a somewhat ugly and uncontrollable appearance. Although it seems that the curls are going to make an appearance, this is not the case because straight hair can also appear frizzy and with a bad appearance. Dry hair is the one that tends to frizz more easily, and extreme care must be taken.

These are the main reasons why you have frizzy hair

One of the reasons why hair gets frizzy is due to humidity. Those rebellious, somewhat wavy or curly manes tend to increase their volume in contact with the humid air of certain places. It usually happens in winter, in places where there are rivers or sea, preferably and in summer for the same situations. Extreme temperatures are usually the most damaging to this type of hair, which dries out and appears carded and frizzy.

Normally, the rain or the wind end up taking its toll on this hair and the curls end up losing definition, being matted, without shape, and become very rebellious when brushed and easier to tangle.

Lack of hydration

Constant changes in temperature are not the only reason for frizzy hair. It is also due to the lack of hydration received. The hair then looks coarse because a mask is missing to tame it, especially in long and poorly cared for hair.

Genetics and nature

Many people have frizzy hair because of mother nature. Genetics has run its course and they have practically always had it that way from birth. For this, a special treatment is needed, which leaves the hair with some shape, be it straight or curly.

By chemicals, straighteners and dye

Bad hair practice also causes it to frizz or has this effect. A badly carried perm, the chemicals applied to the hair through mousses, dye liquids, straighteners and others, further open the scales of the hair cuticles, causing continuous frizz.

Hair without keratin

Keratin treatment is currently one of the most demanded in hairdressing salons or beauty centers. Keratin is necessary in the hair because it restores it, makes it stronger, moisturizes it and the result is a more attractive smooth and shiny hair. With this treatment, the hair practically does not frizz and obtains a correct and smooth position, ideal for taming the most rebellious hair.

Bad nutrition

The lack of vitamins and minerals can make the hair weaken and fall out, and at the same time, it stays drier than normal, and therefore with a slightly more puffed effect. The lack of fatty acids or lipids also adds to it.

Wrong shampoos

Although there are many beauty products on the market, not all of them are worth it.  There is one specific for each type of hair. The hair can get frizzy due to a bad and incorrect use of the hair shampoo.

If it gets frizzy, you may need a type of product against dry hair that provides maximum hydration. Conditioners are also necessary for the frizz effect to fade.

Types of brushes

Some girls tend to always have frizzy hair because they brush daily with unsuitable materials. The hair ends up without shape, due to continuous untangling of the hair, and it is neither straight nor curly, but rather frizzy.

Metal material combs tend to break and stretch the hair, making it look shabby. The best are wooden or plastic combs, and somewhat wider and thicker spikes.

Dryers and irons: heat

Hair can get frizzy from continued use of hair straighteners and dryers. When they are at a high temperature they can burn it and dry it out even more. Heat, in short, does not go well for the hair, since it tends to break more easily.
