If there is a highly recognized and popular fruit for its benefits against constipation, there is no doubt that figs have a privileged position in this regard. They are the fruit of the fig tree (Focuscarioca), they have a characteristic shape and a dark color that appears especially when they are ripe and in their best moment for consumption, and they stand out for being the fruit par excellence of autumn, being recognized by its qualities when it comes to alleviating the so-called autumnal asthenia.

From a nutritional point of view, they are very interesting in a healthy, varied and balanced diet because they are very rich in sugars, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins.  Among its high mineral content we can mention the presence of potassium, calcium and magnesium. While, in the group of vitamins, we can mention vitamin A, vitamins of group B (B1, B2 and B3) and vitamin C.

They are considered a very energetic fruit precisely because of their high carbohydrate content, among which sucrose, glucose and fructose stand out, therefore a moderate consumption of this fruit is recommended, especially when following a weight loss diet. Of course, they are ideal for students and athletes precisely because of their high amount of carbohydrates.

However, if figs stand out for a very special quality, they do so above all for their benefits against constipation, thanks to their high fiber content, hence they are a recommended option when it comes to relieving constipation and improving intestinal transit.

For this purpose, figs can be eaten alone or dried (in case you like dried figs). But today we want to talk to you about a popular remedy as traditional as it is classic, which consists of making a decoction of figs with milk.

Decoction of figs with milk

Ingredients you need

  • 30 gr. dried figs
  • 1 glass of milk (250 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey (to sweeten)

Steps to make the decoction of figs with milk

First wash the dried figs well. Then put the milk in a saucepan over the fire, add the dried figs and boil them for 2 to 3 minutes. After this time, turn off the heat and sweeten with a tablespoon of honey, mixing well with a wooden spoon.

How to take figs with milk to relieve constipation and improve transit:

It is, as you can see, a popular remedy as simple to prepare as it is to take. At the time of consuming it, either because you want to improve intestinal transit or because you have constipation, it is best to take hot dried figs at night before going to bed, and then drink the milk.
