How to avoid drowsiness? Discover simple tips and tricks that will help you prevent drowsiness, and will help you eliminate it if it occurs.

Surely all of us at some point in our lives have suffered from drowsiness, especially if we take into account that -in most cases- it appears as a consequence of having slept a few hours or having rested badly, having had many hours of work or shifts different. Even in case of boredom, depression, anxiety or stress, they can influence its appearance.

We must understand sleepiness as the state in which we feel sleepy during the day, so excessive that we can even fall asleep in inappropriate situations or times.

As we indicated at the beginning, its most common causes are usually excessive work or work at different times, having slept for a few hours or having rested poorly (as a consequence, for example, of going to bed worried or nervous, sleeping with noise or not being able to reconcile the dream).

The treatment is clear: when drowsiness appears for several days, it is essential to look for the cause that has caused its appearance. However, there are some tips that can help you avoid it. We discover them below.

How to avoid drowsiness? Simple tips and tricks

Bearing in mind that one of the main causes of drowsiness is lack of sleep, or having rested poorly due to having a bad night, if it is repeated for several days we should ask ourselves if, for example, we take our worries to bed that we have throughout the day. It is common for us to go to bed worried, ruminating thoughts, or even nervous. For these cases, obviously the best thing is to try to leave these types of thoughts out of bed, being useful to practice some meditation or relaxation half an hour before going to bed.

Stimulant drinks and alcohol can make it difficult for us to fall asleep and rest poorly, so we will most likely feel sleepy the next day. The solution is simple: avoid caffeine (both coffee and colas), alcohol and other stimulating drinks after 6pm.

At other times we have told you about the benefits of a nap. If you have the opportunity to enjoy it, you can rest 15 or 20 minutes in the afternoon, but without sleeping longer, since then it will be difficult for us to fall asleep.

In addition to practicing relaxation and meditation, physical exercise can be of great help, since it is useful to release stress and our body will rest much better.
