Having young, smooth and almost perfect skin is not simply a matter of DNA. You also need to maintain a daily routine. In fact, doing it every day has a huge impact on what you see in the mirror. But when you still have doubts about what this routine consists of, you should keep in mind that any skin care routine basically consists of three essential steps: cleaning (washing your face), toning and moisturizing. Without these three basic steps, it will be of little use that we want to have skin in perfect condition, since we will not achieve it.

The goal of any skin care routine is to refine the complexion as much as possible, especially to make it work. And also solve some problems or conditions that may have arisen. Beauty routines are, according to experts, an excellent opportunity to notice changes not only within yourself, but also outside. And as your skin needs to change over the years, so do the products you use on it.

Even so, remember something fundamental: it is not about creating perfection, but about caring for the skin as effectively as possible in order to always try to achieve the best results.

Be patient and give yourself time

Before I offer you some useful tips for daily skin care, it is necessary to remember something fundamental: the science behind skin care products has come a long way before reaching our hands. But despite this, they are not an instant solution: they need time to see the benefits.

Therefore, the results are only visible through constant use. And, when it comes to using a certain beauty product, the most common is to use it for at least six weeks, once or twice a day. Only in this way will you be able to notice some differences.

Cleaning

Indeed, cleansing and washing your face is the most basic and essential step in any skincare routine. It is, in fact, what most dermatologists and beauty experts think.

Every day, our skin comes into contact with a wide variety of environmental pollutants, dirt, and other elements that can harm its appearance and health, and must be gently removed.

It is recommended to wash twice a day, morning and night, as the main advice to avoid clogged pores, dryness and acne problems.

And what products to use? The correct formula when cleaning our skin is to use a product that does not remove the essential and healthy oils naturally present in it. Therefore, if you use any exfoliating product, remember to use it only once a week, and avoid those that contain abrasive ingredients or crushed walnut shells.

Serum

Serums, or serums, are the most powerful allies in skin care. Why? Mainly because they are packed with concentrated doses of active ingredients that can help alleviate a range of issues, from dark spots – from the sun or aging – to wrinkles.

Even if you don’t have specific issues to treat, we all need a serum with antioxidant qualities, which are also ideal when applied in the morning, as they help protect us from daily aggressors.

And if what you want is to treat some other specific problem, you can search for the products that we propose below:

  • Hyaluronic acid. It is ideal for sealing in hydration and strengthening the barrier function (the upper layer of the skin), helping to prevent moisture loss, so common in dry skin.
  • Vitamin C. It is useful to help lighten dull skin, as well as to reduce dark spots.
  • Retinol, peptides and vitamin B3. They are suitable for stimulating the production of both collagen and elastin, which are proteins that help prevent lines and sagging skin.

Moisturizing

After washing your face well and applying a serum, it is the ideal time to use your moisturizer. Remember that the basic function of a moisturizer is not only to hydrate the skin, but to soften it. It is time, therefore, for moisturizing creams with moisturizing qualities, which also help prevent -and avoid- the loss of water through the outermost layers of the skin.

They are also useful to complement the protective oils that we find naturally within the skin, as well as other equally basic components, such as ceramides.

In fact, moisturizers are ideal for use throughout the year, regardless of the type of skin we have, mainly because, as we age, the skin loses its natural ability to retain moisture, something that can be seriously influenced by daily activities, such as excessive skin washing.

But what are the differences between a day moisturizer and a night cream? Basically, the creams specially developed to be applied in the morning contain a series of ingredients that help protect the skin from environmental aggressors. For example, many often contain useful antioxidants to minimize free radicals from both pollutions. And it can also act as a sunscreen to protect us from ultraviolet radiation.

The consistency of day moisturizers also tends to have a much lighter consistency.

However, night moisturizers focus on repairing any damage that may have occurred throughout the day, even if it is not visible. It is common that they contain retinol, which accelerates cell renewal and counteracts dark spots. On the other hand, they are useful for replenishing moisture levels overnight.

Because they contain emollient ingredients, they often have a rich, thick texture.

Sunscreen

Although we have left it for last, the truth is that most experts agree that sunscreen is one of the most important products for skin care, being necessary to use it throughout the year, regardless of the season. in which we meet (and not only in summer).

Its daily use offers interesting benefits, such as preventing the development of fine lines and wrinkles, imperfections and changes in the appearance of pores. In addition, they are essential to help prevent the formation of certain types of skin cancer, and dark spots caused by the sun.

In this sense, it is recommended to use a daily moisturizer with an SPF of at least 30.
